For nearly ten years, I worked toward a dream of building rental properties that would one day provide financial freedom. I believed I was building my future.
Then everything changed.
The unwanted end of my marriage became the hardest season of my life. More difficult than anything I experienced in the Marines, it left me walking through a valley I never would have chosen. It was just me and Jesus. In that loneliness, He became everything I needed. He didn't simply carry me through the pain. He transformed my heart.
Looking back, I realized something I couldn't ignore. I never wanted another man to walk through a season like that alone.
As God continued to shape my heart through His Word, especially Jesus' words in Matthew 25, my dream began to change. Just days before I was ready to advertise my first rental property, I became convinced the Lord was asking me one simple question:
"Would you give it to Me?"
In that moment, I realized this house had never truly been mine. The dream I had spent years building wasn't ending. It was finally becoming what God intended all along.
That's how the IRIS Housing Project was born.
Today, this home exists because I know what it's like to sit in the darkness with no community around you, clinging only to Jesus. My prayer is that every man who walks through these doors finds what I once longed for: brothers who will walk beside him, point him to Christ, and remind him that he never has to face life's hardest seasons alone. Then, strengthened in their faith, my hope is that they would go into the world, let their light shine before others, that they may see their good deeds and glorify our Father in heaven.
